Democrats Back Away From Health Deadline

Amid several growing controversies surrounding health reform, some Congressional democrats have begun talking about passing legislation 'before the end of this year' instead of 'before the August Congressional recess'. Read the AP story about this shift here.

Conflicts among Democrats surround the recently publicized separate agreements between the White House and the trade groups for pharmaceutical firms and hospitals. Other aspects of the proposed legislation is troubling to Congressional Republicans, including tax increases and the so-called public plan or option.

My comment:

There is still a real possibility that Congress will find itself unable to agree on anything at all related to health care.

We should move ahead with a ballot initiative in Utah.
